Media Relations - Media Relations in the 21st Century
When the media spotlight shines and social media pounces, the stakes are high. The Tantalus Group's media relations experts have prepared hundreds of global executives for a wide variety of media interview situations. These are human interactions that require strong emotional and cultural intelligence, as well as diligent preparation. We work with C-suite executives, corporate affairs and communications professionals, and high-potential leaders to help them communicate with clarity, confidence and good judgment.
Broadcast & Online Video
Television and online video interviews, whether in-studio, on-location or remote, are high-pressure situations. Every word counts. Our media training helps leaders relax under pressure, understand how to work with the interviewer and deliver clear, memorable sound bites in front of the camera. We focus on clarity, confidence, preparation and judgment so that executives can communicate effectively when the spotlight is on them.
Social Media & Newspapers
Influencers, bloggers, vloggers and podcasters are today’s evolving media voices. They have not replaced traditional journalists, they compete alongside them for attention and influence. At the same time, the online versions of traditional newspapers have become an increasingly important part of the news cycle. These conversations can be fast-moving, unpredictable and difficult to control. We help executives and organizations deliver crystal-clear messages in an authentic voice, even when facing challenging questions, rapid follow-ups or lively online dialogue.
Content Creation
Today’s media environment requires strong content more than ever. Yet organizations often fail to recognize the value of the information, expertise and stories they already have, or don’t know how to turn those assets into compelling media content. Our consultants and network of experienced journalists and communicators can help identify opportunities, develop content and shape material that is relevant to today’s media environment. This can include:
- Media-ready articles and thought leadership
- Executive commentary
- Interview preparation and briefing materials
- Digital and social content
- Corporate storytelling
- Video and multimedia content
Storytelling That Makes People Care
Information alone does not make a story. The ability to tell a compelling story is at the heart of successful media engagement. Strong storytelling transforms information into an experience that audiences can understand, remember and connect with. Our writers and global communicators bring experience across industries and markets to help organizations find the human story behind the message. The best media engagement doesn’t just communicate information. It creates connection.
Media Intelligence & Analysis
Media relations doesn’t end when the interview is over. The Tantalus Group monitors trends, metrics, analytics and changes in public sentiment to help clients understand how their organization and issues are being discussed. This intelligence can help executives prepare more effectively for interviews, identify emerging issues and understand how media coverage is influencing reputation. Information is power, but only when you know how to use it.
Preparing for the Spotlight
Effective media relations begins long before an interview. We help leaders understand their audiences, clarify their key messages, anticipate difficult questions and practice communicating naturally under pressure. Whether you’re preparing for a television interview, a newspaper journalist, a podcast, a digital creator or a rapidly developing story, preparation creates confidence.
